SURMA – Giclée Print
£44.00 – £375.00
Giclée Fine Art Print
Giclée Fine Art Print of my original painting ‘Surma’, printed on a 310gsm Hahnemuhle Photo Rag paper. The print ensures the harmonic colour intensity and sharpness which is achieved by the highest quality reproduction. The surface of the print is slightly textured with a chalky smooth cotton feel which creates smooth colour gradients. It has a delicate surface, so extra care is recommended when handling.
More on Giclée Printing
Giclée Printing refers to a printmaking method that involves using a digitised image outputted from a computer to a large format inkjet printer. To qualify for the title of a “fine art giclée print” it should be made on archival quality coated paper, and printed with pigment based archival inks, which are UV stable. To achieve a very high standard of colour reproduction with neutral greys, a typical giclee printer will use a twelve colour pigment based ink set. A giclee print made using pigment inks can be lightfast for up to 100+ years, but this depends on factors such as paper type and storage conditions.
The quality of the paper used in a giclee print is very important. I use 310gsm Photo Rag paper by Hahnemuhle (fine art paper mill Hahnemuhle have been producing mould made artist papers for over 435 years). The final result is a superb giclee print, often on the same media as the original artwork.
Handling & Care
Giclée prints have delicate surface, so extra care is recommended when handling. They are suitable for mounting, but the cotton texture means edges can fray if not carefully handled.
